Canned Chicken Recipes (with Episode 23)!


On the show we mentioned a few recipes that we’d like to share here.  Some were delicious, some—not so great.  You be the judge for yourself!  Make them and let us know how they go!  Use that canned chicken wisely, folks.  This first recipe is courtesy of .  It was flavorful, but could really use a starch in our opinion.  Maybe add some rice or potatoes or noodles.  Something.

Ritz Chicken Casserole

40 minutes to prepare serves 4


  • 3 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded
  • 1 (10.75 oz.) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 sleeve ritz crackers, crushed
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika, garnish
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste


  1. Preheat oven to 350º F and lightly grease a 8×8-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Combine soup and sour cream in a large bowl, then stir in shredded chicken.
  3. Season generously with salt and pepper, and stir in Italian seasoning, paprika and red pepper flakes.
  4. Pour mixture into greased baking dish, then top with crushed ritz crackers.
  5. Evenly pour melted butter over the crushed crackers, then place baking dish in oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until dish is heated through and crackers are golden brown.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

 Author Butter With A Side of Bread


  • 2 8- oz blocks cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 1 12.5 oz can chicken drained (I like the Costco brand best!)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 pkg. dry ranch dressing mix


  1. Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl and then refrigerate until ready to serve.
  2. Yes, it really is just that easy! Enjoy!
  3. Dipper ideas: Wheat Thin crackers, carrots, celery, potato chips (the dip is pretty thick, so make sure your dippers are sturdy)!

This next delicious and quick meal comes from the loosest of recipes straight from Annitsa’s Aunt Terry.  In a text.  But trust us when we say that it’s the easiest and most tasty!  Thanks, Terry!!

“You boil some noodles. (Can’t tell you how many, about 4-5 handfuls maybe.)  Add a can of cream of chicken soup, some chopped onion, about 1/2 soup can of milk and a can or two of chicken (drained).  Sprinkle crispy fried onions and cheese on top and just warm in the microwave until it’s warm and the cheese is melted.”

****Annitsa didn’t have fried onions on hand so she used potato chips.  DO THIS.  TRUST.

This next recipe isn’t really a recipe…Jenna just used a box of Tuna Helper and substituted chicken for the tuna, added some peas and corn and voila!
